CAT Preparation by toppers: Tips to get 99+ percentile in CAT 2021
With just a few days to go before the CAT 2021 exam, here are some tips from those who have topped the previous years to help current students to pass the CAT entrance exam:
VISHESH GARG
Vishesh Garg, who secured 99.99 percentile in CAT 2020. He focused on the areas in which he knew he was very weak. Like he was very good at Verbal so he revised it again and again and read novels and solved some CAT sample papers.
But DILR was a comparatively weaker section for him. So he used to practice a lot of questions, attend classes, and talk to their mentors at the coaching institution. He used to practice CAT mock tests every day for 3 hours.
ASHISH SEN
A graduate of Mechanical Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi and a student renewing his guitar playing is excited after getting 99.99 percentile marks in the CAT 2020 exam. His preparation strategy was different for all three sections.
For QA: He first focused on strengthening my concepts in all the topics asked in the CAT exam, for this he completed the entire module provided by TIME coaching institute, after which he was pretty confident about his Quant.
For DILR: He didn't have to work much on this section as he already had a knack for solving such problems. All he did was practice CAT level questions by sectional tests, previous year papers, etc.
ABHILASHA BALAKRISHNANA
Abhilasha Balakrishnan, who is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and has worked in Kluber Lubrication (P) Ltd, Bangalore while appearing for the CAT exam and scored 99.86 percentile. She started with 4-5 hours of study after her office hours. CAT topper Abhilasha Balakrishnan cleared CAT in her first attempt.
She did join the coaching way back in April month. Since she was working as well and with WFH (work from home), the timings were a little more hayway. The actual preparation started two months back, otherwise, she was making a point to attend all the classes and solve all the sample questions that were being discussed in the CAT coaching class.
