NEW DELHI: Students appeared for the Class 12 chemistry exam today, February 28. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) held the Class 12 Chemistry exam between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Students appearing for the Chemistry exam today found the paper balanced with straight forward questions. Students had to reach the exam centre at 10 am. The CBSE Class 12 Chemistry question paper contained five sections -- A, B, C, D and E. All the questions were compulsory and were held for a total of 70 marks.
While Section A consisted of 18 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each, Section B comprised seven very short answer questions carrying two marks each. Section C had five short answer questions carrying three marks each.
Section D comprised two case-based questions carrying four marks each and Section E asked three long answer questions with five marks each.

As per the CBSE 2023 exam dress code, regular students need to wear school uniforms, while private students can appear for the exams wearing light clothes.

The CBSE class 12 exams 2023 question papers would comprise 20 per cent MCQs or objective questions, 30 per cent would be competency-based questions and the remaining 50 per cent would constitute subjective or short and long-answer questions.
CBSE Class 12 compartment exam 2023 will be held in the month of July 2023 tentatively.
The pass marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33 per cent. In case of a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33 per cent marks in theory and 33 per cent marks in practical separately in addition to 33 per cent marks in aggregate in order to qualify in that subject.

Sakshi Saroha, Std XII, Orchids The International School, Sonipat stated, "CBSE 2023 chemistry exam was at a moderate level. There were a few conceptual questions but if your concept is clear, you would not face any difficulty to solve them. It was not too lengthy, one can easily solve the paper in 2 and a half hours, so overall the paper was at average level".
The whole paper was based on the NCERT textbook. The paper was moderate and direct in nature numerical and theory questions' weightage were very much balanced. While some students found short answers tricky. Overall it was an easy paper for students preparing for further studies in the field of Science or Engineering, this paper has done revision work in a way for them.

Sujata Majumder, Chemistry teacher, Genesis Global School Noida said, "The paper was of moderate level and most of the questions were asked from NCERT books. Few reasoning-based questions were tricky, but at the same time numerical-based questions and chemical equations asked were easy and less time-consuming. Overall a well-balanced and student-friendly paper. Section A was easy and scoring. Section B was also of moderate level. Few questions of Section C were challenging for average students. Section D was very easy and Section E was of moderate level. Students who studied mainly NCERT and solved 5 years past papers will be easily able to score more than 95 per cent".
There were 35 questions in the Class 12 chemistry paper divided into five sections with internal choice.
The Chemistry paper was simple and the level of difficulty was moderate. It was a lengthy paper that needed three hours of continuous work. The paper was from NCERT only. There were a total of 35 questions that students were supposed to attempt in three hours. Section A had question number 1-18 that were MCQ based and 1 marker each. While 19-25 in section B were short answer type. Section c had questions from 26-30 three markers. Section D contained 31-32 case-based questions carrying 4 marks each. Section E are long answer type questions carrying 5 mark each from 33-35. There was internal choice provided in two questions in section B, two questions in section C and two questions in section D and 2 questions in section E, stated Dr Neelima Kamrah ,Principal KIIT World School Gurugram.
As per Kshipra Pahwa Sethi, Curriculum Incharge, Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad the Chemistry paper was easy to moderate and the questions were mainly CBSE-based. The direct questions were quite easy to answer while the competency-based questions were average.
Students were able to attempt the paper in time and were happy and satisfied. The paper pattern was similar to the CBSE sample paper and overall it was a balanced one based on the CBSE curriculum. The questions of the case study were direct but the MCQs were a little tricky. Overall it was a good paper.
Students found multiple choice questions in section A lengthy. Section C had all the direct questions from NCERT. Both the case-based questions in section D were moderate. All the questions from section E were also direct. A few questions in Section A and B were tricky.
The paper was from NCERT, all those who have studied NCERT thoroughly should excel. It can be a challenge to score 100 per cent for top scorers.
The Chemistry paper was 70 marks, to be attempted within 3 hours.
The paper was divided into five sections:
There were 3 sets of paper. Most of the questions in all the sets were similar.
The Chemistry papers theory component of the exam consists of five sections — A, B, C, D and E. There were 35 questions in this question paper with internal choice. Section A had 18 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each, Section B had seven very short answer questions carrying two marks each. The Section C of the Chemistry paper had five short answer questions carrying three marks each. As per MRG School's Ruchi Gupta, PGT chemistry, the difficulty level of the Chemistry paper of Class 12th was high. The questions asked in the exam paper were tricky, although they were from the NCERT course. The chemistry paper was based on the sample paper released by CBSE earlier. It was a moderately difficult paper to attempt, Gupta added.
As per the observation of the candidates, the question paper was quite average for almost all the students. Question are straightforward. MCQ's in the sets were different but the theoretical questions were mostly same. The passage based questions were easy to guess. Students managed their time better as the paper was not lengthy. Overall it was a good paper with balanced elements from all the sections.

The chemistry paper was a balanced one with moderate difficulty level. The MCQs were quite direct. The level of questions were similar to the previous years and the pattern was in accordance with the CBSE sample paper. Most questions were based on NCERT and students who have revised the NCERT pattern thoroughly would solve the paper well.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2023 paper 2 result for BArch and BPlanning today, February 28. Candidates can check the JEE Main 2023 paper 2 result through the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in using their application number and date of birth.
CBSE will conduct the class 12 chemistry exam from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Students will be given 15 minutes extra time to read the question paper.
According to the CBSE guidelines, the examination centre gates will close at 10 am after which no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall/ room.

Candidates will be awarded grace marks in CBSE class 12 board exams on a scale of two to five points. However, the minimum mark required to pass the exam in individual subjects as well as in aggregate is 33 percent.
Candidates should note that the use of log tables and calculators is strictly prohibited in the exam. Students should also avoid carrying mobile phones with GPS, communication devices, electronic items, including digital watch, or barred items to the examination centre.
