CBSE Class 12 Exam 2021: Supreme Court to hear plea on board exam cancellation today

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India will hear a PIL in seeking cancellation of Class 12 board exams due to the surge in COVID cases across the country. The hearing on CBSE 12th board exam will start at 11 am. Advocate Mamta Sharma filed this PIL few weeks back. CBSE board exam 2021 decision is expected to be taken after the hearing.

Earlier, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing because the petitioner did not serve an advanced copy on the standing counsel for the CBSE.

The plea has contended that due to the health emergency and increase in the coronavirus cases in the country, it is not possible to conduct the 12th board exams and any further delay would cause irrecoverable loss to the future of students.

CBSE Class 12 date and pattern is expected to be released by June 1, 2021. So, it is expected that a final verdict on CBSE 12th exam 2021 will be taken after this hearing.

Earlier, in a high-level meeting with educational authorities and ministers, it was proposed to either conduct exams for major subjects or to hold exams with some changes in pattern.

Meanwhile, students and parents are demanding to cancel CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021. Twitter and other social media platforms are flooded with hashtags like #modijisave12thstudents, #cancelboardexam, #cancelExamsSaveStudent.

Students are demanding to promote them based on their internal assessment as similar to CBSE Class 10. Last year too, the Supreme Court heard a plea on cancellation of board exams and ordered the CBSE to cancel the exams. The CBSE Class 12 result 2020 was prepared based on the papers attempted in February and March 2020. But this year, as the board did not conduct the theory paper, it is hard to declare the CBSE 12th result 2021. Lakhs of students are waiting for a final verdict on CBSE 12th exam 2021.
