: After raising several requests on social media platforms to cancel the exam, students, parents and teachers are eagerly waiting for a decision on CBSE Class 12 board exam. Amid growing clamour to cancel the Class 12 board exams, Manit Jain, Co-Chairman of FICCI Arise said, “Just how Class X CBSE Board Examination has been cancelled, given the present circumstances, Class XII Board Examinations must also be suspended.”

He also said that the students can be evaluated on the basis of two primary factors – year long periodic tests/ assignments/ class-work/ projects etc. and historical performance of the school in Class 12 board examinations.
Speaking about the exam postponement, he said, “School systems around the globe have been cancelling or postponing senior secondary school examinations in the wake of the stringent Covid-19 protocols, which continue to disrupt teaching and learning. However, the interruptions provide an opportune moment to question the efficacy of exams as a measurement of achievement.”
“Schools must be granted the flexibility to cover as broad a range of assessment objectives as possible and set the rationale for criteria as they deem appropriate. A review committee with in-house and external experts could be formed to take any justified decision looking into the ground realities,” he added.
