CBSE exempts exam fees for Class 10, 12 students who lost parents due to COVID-19

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has waived exam fees as well as registration fees for all those students who have lost parents due to COVID-19.

According to an official notification issued by the CBSE, the schools have to provide the details of such students “after verifying their genuineness” while submitting the list of candidates for board exams 2022 term-1 that is scheduled to be held in November-December.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the country adversely and keeping In view of its impact on students, CBSE, as a special measure for Academic Session 2021-22, has decided that neither the examination fees nor the registration fees will be charged by the Board from the student(s) who have lost both parents or surviving parent or legal guardian/adoptive parents due to COVID-19 pandemic,” CBSE said in an official statement.

Further, the notification said that the schools have been informed that the data collection for LOC will continue till September 30 without late fees and October 9 with late fees.

CBSE had asked schools to submit the list of candidates eligible to appear for term-1 board exams scheduled to be held in November or December on September 16. It advised schools to make correct and timely submission of the list of candidates.

Schools can submit the LOC in online mode only. CBSE will not consider any offline submission. There will be no correction window for editing the data that has already been uploaded, CBSE had said.

CBSE is likely to release the datesheet of term-1 board exams of Classes 10, 12 by October 10, as per India.com report. Students can check the datesheet on the official website - cbse.gov.in.

This year, the CBSE will hold the board exams for 10th and 12th in two terms and the CBSE syllabus 2021-22 has been divided into two parts, accordingly.

In the CBSE term 1 exam, there will be multiple-choice questions (MCQ) which will include case-based and assertion-reasoning type questions. CBSE has also announced the term-wise syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 on its official website along with sample question papers and marking scheme for CBSE board exam 2022.
