NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued show-cause notices to 29 schools across India for violating CBSE affiliation bye-laws. As per the official press release, the CBSE conducted a series of surprise inspections in 29 schools across multiple locations on December 18 and 19, 2024.
After reviewing the inspection reports, it was found that the majority of these schools had violated the CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws. The CBSE has taken a firm stand against the 29 schools that violated the bye-laws and has given them 30 days to provide a written response.
“CBSE has taken serious note of these violations and has issued show-cause notices to all 29 schools involved. Each school has been provided with a copy of the respective inspection report and has been directed to submit their replies within 30 days,” the official press release read.
The inspections were carried out in schools in Delhi on December 18 and in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Patna (Bihar), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
Key violations identified include:
Following are the key violations found during the surprise inspections.
-
Enrollment Irregularities: Several schools were found to have enrolled students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively endorsing “non-attending” enrolments.
-
Non-compliance with Academic and Infrastructural Norms: Many schools were found to be flouting CBSE guidelines for academic and infrastructural standards.
Last month, CBSE issued show-cause notices to 34 affiliated schools for participating in sports events organised by the CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO) despite prior warnings. In September 2024, the board issued show-cause notices to 27 schools in Rajasthan and Delhi for violating affiliation bye-laws and regulations.

CBSE further stated in the press release that it will not waver in its will to enforce the highest standards of education and that it will keep enforcing strict measures for any violations of its regulations.
