CBSE schools to participate in education ministry's 100-day reading campaign
CBSE has invited schools to participate in the reading campaign that will begin on New Year day.

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited affiliated schools to participate in the 100-day reading campaign, ‘Padhe Bharat’, which is scheduled to be launched by union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on new year's day.
The reading campaign will be held for 14 weeks running from January 1 to April 10, 2022. The campaign seeks participation from children, teachers, parents, community and educational administrators.
The campaign is for students studying in kindergarten to Class 8. Guidelines regarding the campaign have been prepared to facilitate children to easily participate in this campaign.

“Reading is a very important skill to develop a fair sense of everything. It is an essential practice required to develop socio-emotional abilities, cognitive and communication skills. Developing reading habits in children at a young age will result in better development of the child. Better reading with comprehension is stressed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020”, said a statement from CBSE .

The CBSE statement also said that it has previously initiated reading programmes like the ‘ CBSE Reading Mission ’ in September 2021 with the objective of building a strong culture of reading in schools, and the ‘CBSE Reading Challenge’ series to assess critical thinking skills among the students on the basis of case-based questions.
“The reading campaign will be carried out for 14 weeks. One activity will be scheduled per week per group to make reading more enjoyable,” said an official statement from the government.
