NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited affiliated schools to participate in the 100-day reading campaign, ‘Padhe Bharat’, which is scheduled to be launched by union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on new year's day.

The reading campaign will be held for 14 weeks running from January 1 to April 10, 2022. The campaign seeks participation from children, teachers, parents, community and educational administrators.

The campaign is for students studying in kindergarten to Class 8. Guidelines regarding the campaign have been prepared to facilitate children to easily participate in this campaign.

“Reading is a very important skill to develop a fair sense of everything. It is an essential practice required to develop socio-emotional abilities, cognitive and communication skills. Developing reading habits in children at a young age will result in better development of the child. Better reading with comprehension is stressed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020”, said a statement from CBSE .
