Chitkara University Chandigarh inaugurates open-source Chandigarh community

NEW DELHI: Chitkara University Chandigarh has inaugurated an open-source Chandigarh community at its campus for the youth of Tri-city to create a rich demographic of open-source practitioners in the Tricity. The community partners of the Chitkara University open-source Chandigarh community are GitHub India, Apache Community Initiatives, Docker Inc. and OpsTree. They will be conducting workshops for students and professionals, said a statement from Chitkara University.
A two-day workshop was held on the day of inauguration for the students of Chitkara University. The workshop was conducted by Ajeet Singh Raina, docker captain and developer relations manager at Docker Inc.
Dhiraj Gyani, director of education at GitHub India, Swapnil Mane, vice president of Apache Community Initiatives, Ajeet Singh Raina, docker captain and developer relations manager at Docker Inc. and Sandeep Rawat, co-founder and chief technology officer of OpsTree attended the inauguration event as guests. Monit Kapoor, professor and dean at CSE, Chitkara University and Kuldeep Sharma, director of industry alliances were present from Chitkara University for the event.

“Open Source is a community where original source code designed by various authors is made freely available to others who would like to view that code, copy it, learn from it, alter it, or share it. Today, it is the need of the hour,” said Kapoor while speaking about the significance of open source.
“We are glad to have the leaders of the Open-Source Community as our community partners. Their rich global experience will provide the requisite knowledge and skills to our students and the youth from the Tricity. This initiative has been designed to benefit and serve the society by providing youth, professionals and students to come together and work on ideas,” said Madhu Chitkara, pro-chancellor of Chitkara University.
