CISCE to Promote All Students till Class 8

NEW DELHI - The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has instructed heads/ principals of all its affiliated schools to promote students of classes 1 to 8 to the next grade without any exam. The council took this decision due to the prevailing issue of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is no instruction for students of class 9 to 12. On March 19, the council released the Class 10 & Class 12 board exam postponement.
The council will release the new schedule on examination after the completion of the lockdown,
The Chief Executive and Secretary of the council, Gerry Arathoon, wrote a letter to principals of all heads of Council affiliated schools mentioning, “In view of the extraordinary circumstances of the global spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the national lockdown, some state government has issued a directive to schools in their respective states regarding the promotion of all students of class 1 to 8. You are hereby advised to follow the directives of the state governments accordingly.”
Previously, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and many other state education boards such as Maharashtra, Karnataka directed to their affiliated schools to promote all students of Class 1 to 8 to the next class. Besides, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has also advised schools to promote Class 9 and 11 based on their school-based assessments, periodic tests, projects, and term exams.
