New Delhi: Manipal Global Education Services, or MaGE, will collaborate with the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) to launch programs in teacher training and school leadership development.
The collaboration is to address the demand for trained teachers due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, which “has led to job creation in the teaching field”, MaGE said in a statement on Tuesday.
It added that “with the globalization of schools and curricula, there are also several international placement opportunities opening up.”
Subrat Mohanty, Group President, Manipal Education and Medical Group, said in the statement: “We believe a strong faculty and teacher development program will help create a future-ready workforce
What the program aims for
“The program for teachers aims to equip school educators and aspiring teachers, including working professionals from other domains, with future skills and practical skill-sets needed to be an effective teacher,” the statement said.
MaGE said the program “through a widely-accepted certification, strengthen[s] their ability to get premium teaching jobs in India and abroad.”
CENTA’s founder and CEO Ramya Venkataraman, said the program “will allow candidates to gain practical skill-sets in an online format and get a great boost or start to their teaching careers.”
The school leadership program will be primarily aimed at principals and help prep senior teachers for management positions in schools.
The program will focus on the importance of online tutoring and the practical skills required for effective instruction through a digital platform.
On successful completion of the program, candidates will be awarded certification from Manipal Academy of Higher Education and CENTA.
