NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the Common University Entrance Test or CUET 2022 notification today, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) said during a media interaction on Monday. NTA will also release the complete details on the test structure of CUCET 2022 on its official website.

UGC on Monday evening released a notice confirming CUET entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses from the academic year 2022-23.
Central Universities like Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Visva Bharati University will provide admissions to their undergraduate programmes through NTA CUCET exam scores. The CUCET exam scores can also be used for admission to state, private and deemed universities.
For postgraduate courses, Kumar said that many central universities have adopted CUET scores for admissions and the rest can also choose CUCET scores for admissions. The PhD admissions in the central universities can be done through the scores of UGC-NET or the entrance exam conducted by the universities.
The proposed CUET examination was envisaged in National Education Policy, 2020 to make a common entrance test for all central universities. The UGC planned a common entrance test for all 45 central universities last year, but the same was postponed to be held from the admissions of academic year 2022-23. The CUET 2022 will be held in 13 languages including Hindi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, English and Gujarati

Mithuraaj Dhusiya, member, of DU academic council considers undergraduate courses admissions through CUET exam problematic as it disregards Class 12 marks of students. "It is total devaluation of class XII study and marks. Plus, it puts into extreme disadvantage students who want to change stream," said Dhusia.
The sudden shift in the admission process introduced by the UGC may add up to the stress faced by the current batch of Class 12 who had to take up an online mode of education.
Abha Dev Habib, who is a lecturer at the physics department at Miranda House, and secretary of DTF views the NTA CUET exam as less flexible compared to the existing system at the Delhi University. In a Facebook post she also said that the CUET exam will impact the autonomy of colleges.
"Yet another important question is whether NTA is ready to run an exam at such a large scale as they have no previous experience. So far they have done run exams for handful of small institutions," said Abha Dev Habib, lecturer at the physics department of Miranda House.
According to Abha Dev Habib, professor, Miranda House secretary, DTF former member, executive council, admissions to undergraduate courses through entrance exams like CUET is disregard to continuous performance in Classes 11 and 12. CUET will get rid of local initiatives and importance of formative assessment, she said.
Habib pointed out the Madras High Court judgement on NEET and says that such entrance exams make admission achievable to only those individuals who are able to afford coaching classes. She further says that such a set-up would lead to increased benefits for coaching businesses and testing agencies.
Delhi University academic council passed the CUET for UG admission amid dissent. The decision was taken during a meeting held to discuss the changes in the UG admission process from the academic year 2022-23.
CUET draws criticism from students on Twitter. In a tweet, a person who claims to be a PhD student at Harvard University has said that initiatives like CUET will lead to the commodification of education for privileged castes and classes while marginalizing the historically excluded.

UGC has announced that the admission in undergraduate programmes will be done on the basis of CUCET marks. The Class 12 board exam marks will play no role in admission to UG courses of central universities.
The Central University Entrance Test or CUET 2022 will be conducted in computer-based mode. The candidates have to visit the allotted exam centre on the day of the exam and appear in the online CUCET exam 2022.
There are 27 test domains for CUCET entrance test 2022. Students can appear for two domain tests in the first shift and remaining four domain tests in the second shift. It includes anthropology, book keeping, sociology, psychology, mathematics, political science, etc.
The implementation of CUET 2022 will not change the admission process of School of Open Learning, University of Delhi. There will be no entrance test for DU SOL 2022 UG admission. The DU SOL provides admission to five UG courses - BA (Hons) English, BA (Hons) Political Science, BCom (H), BCom and BA.
The announcement of the CUET entrance exam 2022 brought mixed reactions coming from twitter users. Some called it beneficial for the students in terms of bringing a level playing field and others said it will only benefit the coaching industry.

As per the UGC notification, the NTA will release the CUET 2022 application form for UG programmes in the first week of April. Candidates can apply for admission to their desired UG course by filling and submitting the CUET application form 2022 before the submission deadline.
The universities can decide the minimum percentage required for admissions and they have the right to keep it as per their choice. The CUCET 2022 eligibility criteria will consist of the minimum percentage of marks required in Class 12 exam by the candidates.
The UGC released a notification on Monday stating that the CUET 2022 entrance exam will be held in the first week of July. The entrance exam of CUET 2022 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for a duration of three hours.
Jagadesh Kumar, chairman, UGC in the ANI report termed Central University Entrance Test or CUET as a student friendly reform and said that all universities can use CUET 2022 scores for undergraduate admissions.
"The announcement of the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is a student-friendly reform. The students who wanted to get admission to Universities had to write various exams whereas some universities took admission on the basis of Class 12 results," added Kumar.

The CUET 20222 counseling will start with the registration process on the official website of the participating university. Only those candidates who have passed the entrance test and are mentioned in the rank list are invited to CUET counselling 2022. The counselling process of CUET 2022 includes various procedures such as registration, choice filling, admission list announcement, document verification and admission fee payment.
The CUCET admission 2022 will begin with the release of CUET application form in the first week of April. The registered candidates will be able to download their admit cards and have to appear in CUET exam 2022 to be conducted in the first week of July by NTA. The participating central universities will conduct its own counselling process and release the admission list and merit list based on the scores of the candidates in CUCET entrance test 2022. The shortlisted candidates will have to complete the document verification process and pay the admission fee.
The new CUET exam 2022 will not bring out any changes in the existing reservation policies of the central universities. "The universities can enroll candidates for the general seats as well as for the reserved seats on the basis of CUET scores. It will not impact the existing admission and reservation policy," PTI reported
To be eligible for CUET 2022 UG exam, candidates must have completed 10+2 in any stream from a recognized board. For the CUET 2022 PG exam, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university. The minimum marks necessary to be eligible for admission differs depending upon the programme and candidate's category.
The CUCET entrance exam 2022 will consist of no aptitude test. The entrance exam will consist of a general test, a compulsory language test and domain specific tests.
The National Testing Agency, which is an independent and autonomous testing agency, established by Ministry of Education will conduct the Central University Entrance Test or CUET for admissions to undergraduate programmes in central universities. NTA conducts some of the premium entrance examinations of the country such as NEET, ICAR AIEEA, JEE Main, GPAT and JNUEE.
Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, Delhi University earlier announced that admissions to Delhi University UG programmes will be done with the help of CUCET exam 2022 this year. So far, DU UG admission was based on the Class 12 marks scored by candidates.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University in its 159th academic council meeting decided that it will provide admissions to UG through CUCET 2022. JNU has been conducting the JNU entrance examination (JNUEE) at various centres of the country for admission to the courses offered from 2019 onwards.
The officials at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) said that they will discuss the implementation of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) on receiving any official communication from the UGC. Earlier, AMU officials had said they wouldn’t implement CUCET 2022 for the admission process.
Those universities which are established by an act of parliament and are under the purview of the department of higher education in MHRD are called central universities. The central universities have been categorised under centre (union government) and the funds to these universities are allocated by the MHRD through UGC.
The Delhi University (DU) academic council will meet today to discuss changes in the admission process as the university has decided to enroll students based on the marks scored in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) from the academic year 2022-23. The CUET 2022 brochure will be released today.
The participating universities will release their own CUET 2022 admission list prepared on the basis of choices filled by candidates. The admission list will mention the names of those candidates who have been granted admission to various programmes offered by the participating universities. The CUET admission list 2022 also includes the name, rank, roll number and category of the selected candidates.
The CUCET entrance exam 2022 will be held in two shifts. In the first shift, candidates will be able to write one language, two domain-specific papers and the general test. In the second shift, students can write the remaining four domain-specific subjects and one optional language subject including French, Arabic, German, etc.
There are a total of 54 central universities in India. These universities include University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Aligarh Muslim University, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Central University of Haryana, Assam University, Jamia Millia Islamia, etc.

The CUCET question paper 2022 will be based on the model syllabus of Class 12. The students have to refer to NCERT books of Class 12 for the preparation of CUCET exam 2022. The CUET question papers will be designed in such a way that it will provide flexibility to students coming from different boards.
The CUCET scores will not be meant to be compulsory for admission to PG programmes in universities. However, many universities have already adopted CUCET scores for admissions to their PG programmes.
The students will have the options to select a maximum of six subjects while appearing for CUCET 2022. In the first shift of CUCET exam, the candidates can appear for two domain specific tests and in another shift they can appear for remaining four domain specific tests.
The CUCET 2022 merit list will not be released by NTA. The central universities will release the CUCET merit list based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the NTA CUCET exam. The CUCET merit list 2022 will be used by the central universities for providing admissions in various courses.
The admission to undergraduate programmes in the central universities will be done solely on the basis of CUCET 2022 scores. The performance of students in Class 12 examination will not be counted for UG admissions. The universities can only use Class 12 marks for defining the eligibility criteria, in case of minimum percentage requirement.
The University of Delhi has clarified that it will provide admissions to postgraduate programmes through Delhi University Entrance Test or DUET. The DUET exam 2022 will be conducted by NTA similar to every year.
The CUCET 2022 scores can be used for admission to any state, private and deemed universities. However, the admissions to all central universities will be solely based on the CUCET scores.
The admission to skill based professional undergraduate courses such as BFA and BPA may also involve an interview or practical process, other than the CUCET 2022 exam. The universities can assign the specific percentage of marks from CUCET entrance test 2022 and remaining percentage of marks through practical or interview for admission in these courses.
The commission has released the notice for CUET 2022 exam for admission to UG programmes in central universities on Monday. Speaking to Careers360, M Shafey Kidwai, AMU spokesperson earlier said that the university will continue with the existing admissions process. “In 2005, the minority status to AMU was challenged at the Allahabad High Court and rejected. We had appealed against this in the Supreme Court which gave an interim order in 2006 allowing us status-quo,” Kidwai added. The AMU academic council decided that as long as the matter is sub judice the admission policy will remain the same.
However, M Jagadesh Kumar, chairman, UGC on Monday said that all the central universities have to provide admissions to their UG courses through the scores of CUET 2022.
Kumar said that the CUET exam will provide equal opportunities to the students coming from different backgrounds. “The CUET entrance exam will reduce the financial burden from the students, since they do not have to write multiple tests for admissions,” he added.
There will be no common counselling for CUCET participating colleges. The NTA will announce the CUCET entrance result after which the universities and colleges will conduct the counselling process on its own.
UGC on Monday announced that the CUCET 2022 for undergraduate admissions is expected to be conducted in the first week of July. NTA will soon release the CUET 2022 exam schedule on its website.
The Delhi University has earlier announced that it will offer admissions to its UG courses through CUET 2022. The DU academic council will discuss the adoption of CUCET entrance test 2022 for UG admissions. The university will do away with the existing admissions process based on the Class 12 marks. The decisions taken up in the academic council meeting will be discussed in the DU executive council meeting, scheduled for March 25.
