CUET 2022: What to expect in Common University Entrance Test

NEW DELHI: With University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman M Jagadesh Kumar announcing a Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to 45 central universities, students have been left wondering about the kind of entrance exam it would be. One thing is sure, now Class 12 marks will not count for admission.
On the basis of UGC chairman’s statement, here are the details about CUET exam date, syllabus, test structure, subjects, languages, and CUCET colleges which will accept CUET scores.
CUET 2022 date, syllabus
According to the UGC chairman CUET 2022 will most likely be conducted in the first week of July. The syllabus of the CUET will be the same as the Class 12 NCERT syllabus. Therefore, whatever students study in Class 12, they will have to appear for an entrance test on those subjects.
CUET test structure
CUET 2022 will have Section 1A, Section 1B, general test and domain-specific subjects. Section 1A, which will be compulsory, will be held in 13 languages and candidates will be able to choose the language of their choice. The language options are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
Section 1B is optional and for students who want to opt for another language apart from the ones that are a part of Section 1A. Some of the languages on offer are French, Arabic, German, etc.
There are 27 test domains for CUET entrance exam 2022. Students can appear for two domain tests in the first shift and remaining four domain tests in the second shift. It includes anthropology, bookkeeping, sociology, psychology, mathematics, political science, etc.

Admission process through CUET
The admission through CUET 2022 will commence with the release of CUET application form in the first week of April. The registered candidates will be able to download their admit cards and will have to appear in CUET exam 2022 to be conducted in the first week of July by NTA.
The participating central universities will conduct their own counselling process and release the admission list, merit list based on the scores of the candidates in CUET 2022.

CUET Exam: Participating colleges
Central Universities such as Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Visva Bharati University will provide admissions to their undergraduate programmes through CUET exam scores.
However, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) are yet to decide on implementing the CUET, said officials from the university on Tuesday. The institutes said that they have formed committees to look into the implementation of CUET. They said that a decision will be taken once they get official communication from the UGC.
