Debashis Sanyal joins Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon as new Director

NEW DELHI, APRIL 4: Dr. Debashis Sanyal has joined Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon as the new Director. Dr. Sanyal has over 30 years of experience of teaching in leading business schools in the country.
As per the Institute officials, in his capacity as Director, Dr. Sanyal will spearhead the holistic growth of Great Lakes, Gurgaon, and will also drive the school’s efforts towards establishing it as an internationally recognized center of excellence for contemporary management education and research.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sanyal shared, “I am excited to be a part of the next phase of growth and look forward to engaging with all stakeholders including students, alumni, and corporates to establish the Gurgaon campus as one of the most industry responsive and globally benchmarked business schools in India.”
Prior to joining Great Lakes, Gurgaon, he was Vice Provost-Management and Dean of School of Business Management at NMIMS for over 7 years, where, he contributed significantly in launching new programs and leading initiatives for receiving international accreditation such as AMBA and AACSB.
Welcoming Dr. Sanyal on his new role, Mohan Lakhamraju, Vice-Chairman and CEO, Great Lakes Institute of Management, said, “Dr. Sanyal’s vast experience as an academic leader and loved teacher will enable Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon scale new heights of academic excellence and establish itself as the most progressive and innovative business school in India.”
Before his stint at NMIMS, Dr. Sanyal was Dean (Academic Programs) at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon and also headed the EMBA program at S.P. Jain Centre of Management, Singapore.
With more than 30 years of rich experience in top business schools, Dr. Sanyal has received numerous honors for teaching. He has a Masters degree from Calcutta University and holds a Doctoral degree in Commerce.
