Delhi University: DU notifies admission through CUCET or DUCET from 2022-23

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University (DU) has notified that a Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) or Delhi University Common Entrance Test (DUCET) will be conducted for DU admissions from the 2022-23 session onwards. The DU Executive Council (EC) on Friday, December 17, approved holding CUCET for admissions to its various undergraduate programmes. The decision was passed with two dissents from the EC members.
“The Executive Council of the University of Delhi at its meeting held on December 17, 2021 resolved that the admissions for the academic Session 2022-2023 onwards in all undergraduate (UG) courses of the university shall be made through Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) or Delhi University Common Entrance Test (DUCET),” said DU in an official notification.

In the Executive Council’s meeting, significant issues like appointment of international adjunct faculty , team of vice-chancellor, among others were discussed.
During the meeting, Rajni Abbi, former Delhi mayor from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was today appointed as Delhi University proctor .

The DU Executive Council meeting was held after the senior Delhi University officials, including pro-vice-chancellor PC Joshi,Proctor Neeta Sehgal and Dean of Students Welfare Rajeev Gupta tendered their resignations on Thursday.
On December 10, the university's Academic Council (AC) had approved holding a common entrance test for Delhi University admissions. The Delhi University AC went with the recommendation of the nine-member DU committee, set up by the DU Vice Chancellor, which had suggested holding a common entrance test.

This year, 12 central universities including Assam University in Silchar, Central University of Gujarat, Central University of Punjab, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Central University of Jharkhand and Central University of Kerala conducted the CUCET 2021.
All central universities, including Delhi University, are also discussing the implementation of the nation-wide Central Universities Common Entrance Test ( CUCET ) following a report by the University Grants Commission (UGC) committee. CUCET was also envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
