Delhi University launches 3-month certificate course on patents
DU certificate course will be taught in hybrid mode. Classes will begin on July. Graduate or Class 12 pass students can apply till June 10.

NEW DELHI : The Research Council of the Delhi University has launched a new certificate course on patents to help students gain the knowledge about tools associated with patent and intellectual property rights. The duration of the course is three months. Interested and eligible students can apply for the course till June 10. The course will start from July 1 and the first batch will end on September 30.
The course will be taught in hybrid mode including 48 hours online and 12 hours offline. Classes will be held for two hours each on Saturday and Sunday. The DU certificate course will take 300 students per batch and it will be run in multiple batches every year.

Eligibility Criteria
The minimum eligibility criteria for the course is graduation in any discipline or Class 12 pass. If the applicant is only 12th pass, then they will have to submit the documents of certified interest in innovation or invention or startup.
The course was launched at the academic hall of the university in the presence of members of the university. Professor Balaram Pani was the chief guest and said that there are many career opportunities in this course. The chairman of the research council, professor Daman Saluja also released the brochure of the course during the launch event.

Saluja said that the “course aims to familiarize students with the various forms of Intellectual Property Rights, especially the need for creation, protection, commercialization, and valuation of intellectual property, specifically patents.”
She also added that this course aims to feature expositions of emerging patent trends in technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, virtual and augmented reality, biotechnology, nano-technology, CRIs (Computer Related Inventions) and telecommunications, along with a detailed description of legal issues related to patents which will help find solutions to myriad legal and practical challenges for the lawmakers and for other concerned.
