NEW DELHI: The Delhi University (DU) has mandated prior permission from the DU proctor's office at least 24 hours in advance while organising any kind of protest or demonstration on the DU campus, and to provide details regarding the protest and the organiser. In a notice, the university also asked the participants to avoid violence and vandalism.

"Prior Intimation of Gathering/Protest/Demonstration anywhere in the University is mandatory. Although protests/demonstrations are the legal right of every individual, YET prior permission from the Proctor's Office is mandatory," said a notice from the University of Delhi proctor's office.

As per the regulation, the organisers of the protest are required to submit details like the name of the organiser, the college, institution or department details, contact number, email ID, course name, and programme details such as its nature, duration, logistics, list of speakers and the number of participants.

Delhi University further informed the students that in case of any kind of violence or destruction of property, the organiser of the event will be held responsible and the DU administration will take strict action against them.

Recently, the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) had held a protest outside the DU's St Stephen’s College asking for scrapping the interview requirement for admissions.
