Delhi University, SRI collaborate to promote research; DU allows SRI scholars to register for PhD

Download NowNEW DELHI: The University of Delhi and the Shriram Institute for Industrial Research (SRI) have signed an agreement to share resources and knowledge on training, conferences, workshops, and joint initiatives. The agreement has been signed for a period of five years, which will be renewed after mutual consent, the university said in an official statement.

The agreement was signed by DU registrar Vikas Gupta and director of SRI. Speaking on the occasion, DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh said: “Universities must collaborate in today's changing circumstances to maximise resource utilisation.”
To promote collaboration and to share resources and skills between the two institutions, experts and scientific staff from SRI and professors, students and researchers of DU will be allowed to visit both institutes.

Both DU and SRI will be working on research projects jointly and also will be able to apply for other collaborative assignments to national and international agencies.
“The research scholars and scientists from SRI can register for PhD with DU, having one faculty member of the concerned department of DU and another faculty member from SRI as supervisors as per mutually agreed terms. At the same time scientists of SRI may become guides for PhD students of DU,” the institute informed.
Upon request from either institute, short-term training in the respective fields of specialisation will also be offered to students, professors, and scientists.
