DU Students’ Union urges VC to provide hybrid mode option for even semester exams

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has written a letter to the DU Vice-Chancellor demanding hybrid mode of exams for students of even semester. The Delhi University students also protested in front of the VC office demanding open book exams (obe).

“We demand an option for hybrid mode of examinations for even semester students who have attended more than half of their semester classes in online mode. #DUSU #obe #studentprotest,” DUSU secretary Ashish Lamba tweeted.

“So keeping all the troubles faced by the students in mind, I kindly request you to look into this matter and provide a blended or hybrid mode of examination for the students of even semester as odd semesters are being given. All the students should be given a choice to appear in the examination either remotely or physically,” said the letter from DUSU.

Referring to the issues of students’, DUSU secretary Ashish Lamba said in the letter that he has been receiving grievances from large number of students of even semester whose exams have been scheduled in the month of May, June 2022 as they are facing a lot of burden since major part of their semesters have been done in online mode. They have only got 20-25 lectures in offline mode. Some of their offline classes have also been missed due to the short time given to shift to hostels, he added.

Science stream students have had problems attending their practical classes and it is really hectic and burdensome for them to suddenly appear for an offline exam, he added.

Moreover, some foreign students have visa issues and have not arrived at Delhi University campus yet, he further said.

Meanwhile, Students' Federation of India (SFI) activists held a protest on Thursday outside the office of Delhi University's vice-chancellor, demanding more hostels for students.
