Expert tips for CLAT 2024 preparation in last week

NEW DELHI: The national level law entrance exam, Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024 will be held in a single shift on December 03, from 2 pm to 4 pm. With only around 10 days left for CLAT 2024 exam , it is crucial for candidates to make the most of their time and look for ways to increase their NLU admission chances. The final leg of CLAT preparation can be distressing as most of the candidates look to do multiple things to fine-tune their year-long preparation.

However, Rajneesh Singh, founder, and chief mentor, of CLAT Essentials says that CLAT is different this year. Under the revised pattern he expects CLAT passages to be slightly shorter than last year and cut-offs to go lower. While talking about ways to deal with the last-minute preparation anxiety, he emphasizes mock tests and revision during the last phase of preparation. Rajneesh Singh shared some last-minute preparation tips to help the students at this stage. These are:

CLAT 2024 is different

It is very important to recognize that there will be 120 and not 150 questions this year. I also expect that they will further decrease the amount of text. Most of the serious CLAT takers will be able to genuinely attempt the full paper (unless it is extremely tough). Needless to say, accuracy will play a vital role. Take lots of CLAT mock tests focussing more on accuracy and not merely speed. The cut-off is likely to be lower assuming the difficulty level remains the same as that of last year. This is because the number of questions is less.

Time to take lesser Mocks

In this span of time, too many CLAT mocks can be dangerous. In the last week, one should not take many mocks. Stop taking mocks the moment you secure a very good rank, which has boosted your confidence. These two weeks should be used for taking many section tests and analyzing the questions to enhance the skills.

Practice of AR and QT

In the last weeks, you must revise and practice Quantitative Techniques (QT). It needs constant practice, unlike Logical Reasoning (LR) or Reading Comprehension (RC). The same rule applies to Analytical Reasoning (AR).

WARNING – you must practice AR too. Do not ignore AR, seeing that in the last four years, CLAT has not asked questions. Being on the safer side, it is better to practice.

Revision of GK

This is the most important task to be undertaken these days. Focus more on revising already covered GK materials instead of taking up new ones. In 2023, almost all the passages of Legal, English and logical reasoning were based on current affairs. Students who were well prepared with current affairs could save lots of time and gain a great competitive edge over others. Focus on preparing most expected topics well in-depth.

The three Mantras while taking CLAT

• English – While reading the passage, focus more on the main message of the author rather than the facts.
• Legal Reasoning - While reading the passage, focus more on the rules/Principles of the author rather than the facts
• Logical Reasoning - While reading the passage, focus more on the argument of the author rather than the facts

If you follow these, then the accuracy and speed will be enhanced by a great margin.

In the remaining days, practice genuine and quality materials as much as possible. The winners will be those,

• Who can read exhaustive, meaningful, and quality text faster but with a 70 to 85 percent accuracy while answering the related questions.
• Who can maintain good composure and focus for a long period.
• Who can handle and adapt to changes quickly.
• Who has a very rational, unbiased mind with good logical sense.
• Who can analyze complex data and conditions.
