GATE 2026 registration starts tomorrow for MTech admissions; last date to apply September 25

Candidates interested in applying for master’s and doctoral programnes in engineering, technology, science, and architecture can apply on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, by September 25.

IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in two shifts, forenoon from 9:30 to 12:30 pm, and afternoon from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
This year, there has been an increase in the GATE application fee for all category candidates. The application fee for female, SC, ST, and PwD category candidates is Rs 1,000, and other candidates have to pay Rs 2000. Candidates who miss the deadline for the application have to pay an additional fee of Rs 500.
This year, IIT Guwahati has added a new sectional test paper of energy science in the engineering sciences (XE) paper; however, the total number of test papers remains 30. There’s no change in the exam pattern, only the introduction of a new energy science paper.

As per the GATE 2026 marking scheme, questions will either carry one mark or two marks. The GATE 2026 exam pattern is given in the table below.
