GITAM opens Drone Technologies lab amidst conclave on academic research
GITAM collaborates with DronaVyuh Technology for drone-related projects.

NEW DELHI: In a Conclave on Academic Research (CAR), the Drone Technologies lab was opened at GITAM (Deemed to be University)'s Bengaluru campus. The conclave, organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, included a panel of speakers who provided insights into cutting-edge research and enabled collaborative efforts. Mangal Kothari, an IIT Kanpur professor, officiated the event with KNS Acharya, the pro cice chancellor of GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru Campus.
GITAM (Deemed to be University) has also signed an agreement with DronaVyuh Technology to promote collaboration between academics and industry specialists on drone-related projects. The collaboration will look into topics such as battery life, flight stability, and autonomous navigation, with the goal of accelerating innovation in industries like as deliveries, search and rescue operations, and weather monitoring.
Other guests who attended the conclave were UB Desai, former director of IIT Hyderabad; S Sundar, director of NIT Mizoram and chair professor at IIT Madras; and Pramod Kumar Singh, professor at IITM Gwalior and associate Pprofessor at IISc Bangalore.

UB Desai guided researchers on innovation and entrepreneurship, numerous financing options, and CRISPR and quantum computing technologies. Furthermore, Professor Desai demonstrated an autonomous electric vehicle [buggy] created at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad for potential intra-campus mobility.
Optimization techniques
PK Singh demonstrated optimisation techniques and their applications to a variety of real-world challenges. He especially addressed scheduling problems associated with electric car charging devices.
Mangal Kothari highlighted his organization's research and development work in autonomous vehicles and robots. He displayed prototypes of the drones and robotic systems that his team created.
Importance of mathematics in research
Sundar emphasised the importance of mathematics in tackling any research problem, particularly those in computer science and related subjects. He demonstrated mathematical models of human mobility, traffic analysis, pedestrian modelling, and other relevant topics.
Trends in computer vision research
Soma Biswas discussed recent trends in computer vision research. She illustrated and explained the object detection problem using vehicle identification. Vehicle training and testing utilising the 'Train and Ignore' method was emphasised.
