HPBOSE increases HPSOS exam fees by 20%, effective from September 2025

HP SOS Fee Hike: Class 10 direct admission fee has been revised from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000.
NEW DELHI: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has announced a 20% increase in exam fees for the Himachal Pradesh State Open School (HPSOS), effective from September 2025. HPBOSE has clarified that the HP SOS revised fees will be applicable from September 2025 onwards.
HPSOS, established under HPBOSE in collaboration with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), had not revised its fees since 2020. As per the official notice, HPSOS fees will now be increased by 20%, similar to the policy followed for regular HPBOSE examinations.
The HPBOSE Class 12 exam s, initially scheduled from March 4 to 8 in Chamba and Lahaul, were postponed due to bad weather. The HP SOS Class 12 exams are rescheduled to be held from March 27 to April 3. The HP SOS Class 12 physics exam 2025 will be held tomorrow.
HP SOS revised fee structure
For HPSOS Class 8, the fresh admission (availing TOC) fee has been raised to Rs 2,600, while reappear fees for all subjects now stand at Rs 800. As per the revised HPSOS fee, Class 10 fresh admissions will now cost Rs 3,000, and reappear candidates will be required to pay Rs 1,000.

HP SOS Fee Hike: Increase in miscellaneous charges
Apart from HP SOS examination fees, miscellaneous charges have also been revised. The HPSOS fee for changing subjects has increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per subject, while stream or appearing type changes will now cost Rs 2,500 per candidate.
