ICAI CA Inter pass percentage remains low; group 2 records highest success rate, last 5 years' result trends

NEW DELHI: The ICAI CA Intermediate exams pass percentage has remained consistently low over the past five years. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the CA Intermediate result for the January 2025 session. The ICAI CA Inter January 2025 pass percentage is 14.05% for both Group 1 and Group 2.
The CA Intermediate pass percentage for the September 2025 session was the lowest, recorded at 5.66%. A total of 96,505 candidates appeared for the CA Inter September 2024 session of which 15.17% candidates declared qualified from Group 1 and 15.99% from group 2.
While the CA Inter pass percentages have improved this year compared to last year, the overall pass rate remains low. Analysing the pass percentage trends over the last five years, the CA Inter May 2024 session recorded a significant improvement, with 18.42% of candidates clearing both groups. This marks the highest pass percentage in the last five years across both the old and new course structures.

The CA Inter January 2025 pass percentages data shows that Group 2 recorded the highest rate of pass percentage with 22.16%, while the overall pass percentage remains low. Candidates can check the complete data on CA Inter January 2025 pass percentage from the table given below.

CA Inter pass percentage of last 5 years
An analysis of the last five years’ results shows fluctuations in the CA Inter pass percentage rate. Group 2 outperforms Group 1 in most of the CA inter sessions, indicating a higher success rate for candidates appearing for Group 2. It can also be observed form the below data that the pass percentage for both groups combined has remained below 20% in all sessions over the past 5 years.
