ICAI flags fake notice circulating online, calls claims on data breach ‘baseless'

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has dismissed the fake claims circulating online about a breach of exam data and the records of students and ICAI members
ICAI Announcement : The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has flagged a fake notice circulating online on social media alleging a breach of ICAI’s members' and students' records and examination data. The institute has dismissed the claims, calling them completely "false, baseless, and malicious".

According to the official ICAI notice , the fake claims online have caused concern and confusion among students, members, and other stakeholders. ICAI has clarified that all these claims are completely false and assured that there’s no data breach.
“ICAI assures all its stakeholders that there has been no breach of members', students' records and examination data whatsoever as alleged or otherwise,” the official ICAI notice said.
Earlier in June, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was filled with unverified claims alleging a compromise of ICAI 's portal and its examination systems.

ICAI urges not to believe in rumours
The institute has urged all stakeholders not to give any credence to such false propaganda on social media platforms.
“ICAI has in place strong and robust systems to protect all kinds of data and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of data security,” the ICAI notice adds
Students, members, and other stakeholders are advised not to give credence to such rumours and false campaigns on social media, and should rely only on official ICAI communications for accurate updates.
