IGNOU launches online certificate, PG Diploma, masters programmes in Rural Development

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)’s Discipline of Rural Development, School of Continuing Education has launched three programmes in Rural Development - Certificate of Rural Development, Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Development, MA in Rural Development.
Interested candidates can apply for the programmes on the official website or through the official link - ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.

Certificate of Rural Development (CRDOL)
The duration of the certificate programme is 6 months and the medium is English and Hindi. The eligibility criteria for applying to the programme is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

“The programme is primarily meant for those learners who, because of the limitations of time and resources, are unable to take up Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development but are still interested to have a comprehensive orientation in rural development within a short period of time,” said an official statement from IGNOU about the course.
MA in Rural Development (MARDOL)
The duration of the MA programme is 2 years. The eligibility criteria for applying to the programme is a bachelor’s degree or a higher degree from a recognized university.

“The programme will be useful to personnel working in various Government Departments/agencies, NGO’s, cooperative sectors and other institutes engaged in rural transformation. It will also be beneficial for fresh graduates interested in pursuing a career in the discipline of rural development,” said the IGNOU statement.
Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRDOL)
The duration of the PG Diploma programme is one year. The eligibility criteria for applying to the programme is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

The PG Diploma programme aims at enabling the learners to acquire skills related to planning, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of rural development projects and programmes. It also introduces the learner to the basic aspects of research and project work. The project work will provide learners an opportunity to study rural development problems, which will enable them to develop necessary skills to undertake research work in rural development, said the statement.
