Currently enrolled students have to re-register for the next term at IGNOU. Those who don’t register will not be able to continue their studies.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced a deadline extension for re-registration of all programmes offered in open distance learning (ODL) and online mode. Existing IGNOU students can re-register for their next year or next semester by August 31, 2025.
The IGNOU re-registration deadline has been extended to ensure that students can complete their studies without a break. All students who are already enrolled in a programme at IGNOU should mandatorily re-register on the official portal to progress into the next semester or year of their course. The application form for re-registration can be found at onlinerr.ignou.ac.in.
Both Indian and international students can apply on the Samarth portal till the extended last date. Existing students who have already created their account can login using their registered username and password. New registrations have to submit their functional email IDs and mobile numbers.
IGNOU re-registration process
For the IGNOU re-registration process, candidates have to choose their desired courses for the next term. The courses pertaining to their programme will be visible on the candidate’s profile.
If the fee payment status is not updated even after submitting the requisite fees, candidates should not rush to make a second payment. The status may be updated after a period of one day, so candidates should wait and then take appropriate action. The university advises students to not wait till the last date due to payment status delays.
If a candidate makes the fee payment twice towards the same application, one of the payments will be refunded to the bank account.
