NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore’s (IIMB) alumni have raised funds to name a classroom on campus after their marketing professor, the late PN Thirunarayana. He was associated with IIMB for thirty-three years and was the son of famous Kannada playwright and poet, PT Narasimhachar, popularly called PuTiNa, who was also awarded the Padma Shri.
IIM Bangalore’s alumni raised Rs 2 crore and availed the naming rights of a classroom that allows the school to use the untied funds for purposes that it deems fit. The postgraduate programme (PGP) batch of 1986 and 1993, and many other alumni made contributions to support this cause, as per a statement from IIM Bangalore.
Rishikesha T Krishnan, director of IIM Bangalore, said: “Professor PNT was a legend in the marketing area and generations of students benefited immensely from his teaching. I hope more alumni will participate in similar initiatives to acknowledge the great faculty of this institute.”
