IIT Bombay launches fundraising campaign for infrastructure development, scholarships

IIT Bombay released a video on YouTube promoting its annual fundraising campaign titled ‘GO IIT Bombay’.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on Thursday launched the IIT-B annual fundraising campaign called 'GO IIT Bombay' for different initiatives including hostel infrastructure development, undergraduate labs, young faculty awards and student scholarships.
“Your positive response to the GO IIT Bombay campaign will impact the campus and its residents, especially the students, whose efforts helped the institute to enhance its research capabilities,” IIT Bombay said.

The GO IIT Bombay fundraising campaign was first launched in 2010 to raise funds for different campus initiatives that the existing funding could not cover.

"IIT Bombay appreciates the support from alumni in every aspect of the welfare of students and communities," said Subhasis Chaudhuri, director of IIT Bombay, in a short video released by the institute on YouTube.
"We aspire to be amongst the top 50 institutions in the world. We are giving you a chance to contribute to our cause under this fundraising campaign. The support you provide will help us reach our goal," the official statement read.

"I would like to express gratitude for the funding we have received. It has helped us to stabilise very quickly," said Janani Sree Muralidharan, assistant professor at the department of mechanical engineering, IIT Bombay.
The IITs had to be dependent on the government for grants, as they failed at getting enough internal receipts, said a recent CAG report. The report cited infirmities in financial management by IITs.

The first phase of IIT Bombay placements 2021, which occurred recently, witnessed 1,382 recruitments including pre-placement offers (PPOs) with an average CTC package of Rs 25 lakh per annum. IITB students received 45 international offers from the USA, Japan, UAE, Singapore, Netherlands, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Reputed companies like Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Airbus, Bain and company, came up with the highest number of offers.
