IIT Delhi to design robotics and automation curriculum for SoSE

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi's technology innovation hub I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) to design a robotics and automation curriculum for the Delhi government's Schools of Specialized Excellence (SoSE).

Once this curriculum is inculcated into the Delhi SoSE, students will learn about various aspects of robotics and automation such as mechanics, electronics, robotics programming, IoT and many others. The IHFC at IIT Delhi is in charge of curating teaching material and content for ease of learning. Through this initiative, the Delhi government aims to enable the students to pursue higher education and diverse career pathways in the field.

According to a statement from IIT Delhi, the IHFC will also extend its support to provide opportunities to students through internships, apprenticeships, guest lectures, masterclasses, visits and projects. IIT Delhi also claims that it will help in training the teachers and support and mentor them so as to enable them to teach efficiently.

"It is important that schools now start offering courses and syllabus, which are beyond just the regular subjects. The future will appreciate individuals who come with an adept skill set in areas of new generation technologies like Robotics, Automation, ML, AI, which is going to be the norm of functioning for every industry in the near future,” said Himanshu Gupta, director of education at DBSE.

SK Saha, IIT Delhi professor and IHFC project director said that students should get exposure at a young age to enable them to face the technically advanced industry and the future world.
