Horiba is a Japanese company that provides instruments and systems for various applications including scientific research and development. The centre currently has a LA 960 analyzer from Horiba that can measure particles in the range of 10nm - 5000um. Dynamic light scattering nano-particle size analyzer and environmental science analytical techniques are going to be introduced in the centre soon, says a statement from IIT Delhi.

“Particle size has a profound effect on material properties such as taste, solubility, texture, and appearance and is a valuable indicator of quality and performance,” said the statement.
According to IIT Delhi, the LA-960 analyzer can show accurate number-based particle size distribution. This data is vital in research and quality control applications since particle size determines many aspects such as glossiness of paint, the flavour of cocoa powder, the reflectivity of highway paint, the strength of cement among others.
