IIT Delhi hosts SANGAM 2025; 110 students from 25 colleges participate

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi organised an intercollege sports event, SANGAM, for students with disabilities. A total of 110 students from 25 colleges across Delhi, NCR participated in the sports event. The event was conducted by the office of accessible education and the office of diversity and inclusion on March 1, 2025.

Participants included 63 students with visual impairment and 77 students with locomotor, hearing, invisible disabilities, and low vision. The event featured a 100m race, 400m relay, carrom, table tennis, badminton, and blind chess tournaments.

A blind cricket match was held on the event day with teams from JNU, Kirori Mal College, and other Delhi University colleges. Kirori Mal College won the match, while another Delhi University XI team secured second place. “Blind chess, played with tactile chess boards, also captivated the audience, showcasing the participants' incredible strategic skills,” the official press release said.

The closing ceremony included a prize distribution, where students from Hindu College, Hansraj College, Amity University, Kirori Mal College, Lady Sri Ram College, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Janaki Devi Memorial College, Satyavati College, Khalsa College, Miranda House, Shivaji College, Indraprastha College for Women, and IIT Delhi received trophies.

“SANGAM 2025 served as a powerful reminder of the significance of inclusion, and IIT Delhi looks forward to organizing this event with even greater enthusiasm and grandeur each year,” the institute said.
