NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’s start-up SWATRIC has collaborated with the Flag Foundation of India (FFI) to develop world-class and advanced textiles for the National Flag of India. Recently, IIT Delhi, FFI, and Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) signed an agreement to carry out research and development through the startup.
“Given India’s diverse climatic and geographical conditions, designing and developing engineered fabric for the flag is a big challenge. The flag’s materials have to be selected and designed specifically to make it durable for extreme weather conditions without being too heavy,” says a statement from IIT Delhi.
