IIT Guwahati starts School of Business; MBA admissions to begin in January 2022
IIT Guwahati: Students who have qualified CAT can apply for admission to MBA starting in January 2022. Classes will begin in July, 2022.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has started its academic activities at the newly launched School of Business and will soon offer admission to the first batch of students at its flagship MBA programme.

The admission process for the MBA programme will commence in January 2022, and the first batch is expected to start their studies from July 2022. IIT Guwahati will conduct the admission process for the MBA programme like that used by other IITs offering MBA programmes, with offering admission to applicants who have qualified the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021.

The admission process for MBA at IIT Guwahati will take place in two stages. In Stage 1, the shortlisting of applications for the personal interview (PI) will be done. Stage 2 will include the final selection based on the PI, along with a few other parameters.

The website of the School of Business was recently launched by the director of the Institute, T G Sitharam and is now accessible at iitg.ac.in/sob where information related to all academic activities and initiatives will be updated.

“Speaking on the occasion, Sitharam highlighted that the establishment of the School of Business at IIT Guwahati was motivated by the idea of promoting and contributing to the subjects of management and entrepreneurship, amongst other emerging subjects. He emphasized the mission of the School to create an ecosystem in line with NEP 2020, where learners from diverse backgrounds can strive and acquire expert skills and knowledge in business management as well, while also creating an opportunity for executives and technocrats to translate their ideas into tangible business solutions,” said an official statement from IITG.

“The Head of the School, Laishram Boeing Singh mentioned that the primary goal of this newly established School is to impart business and management knowledge in conjunction with the right skills, to empower individuals striving towards achieving tangible entrepreneurial goals and utilize the diverse ecosystem existing at IIT Guwahati,” the statement added.
Some of the expertise offered by the School include niche areas of Business Analytics, Human Resource Analytics, and Sustainable Finance.
