IIT Kanpur releases JEE Advanced 2018 admit card; Exam to be held on May 20

NEW DELHI, MAY 14: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has released the admit card of JEE Advanced 2018 in online mode, on May 14. Registered candidates can download the admit card by entering their registration number, date of birth, mobile number and email ID on the candidate’s portal. The admit card of JEE Advanced can be downloaded till May 20.

An important point to be noted is that the admit card which is downloaded must be submitted by the candidates at the exam hall during Paper I. They will be issued the original admit cards which has to be retained till the completion of their admission.

While candidates who have registered and paid the fee for JEE Advanced can download the admit card, candidates who have registered partially or have not paid the registration fee within the stipulated time frame, can also download their provisional admit card and appear in the entrance test. However, such candidates have to submit a demand draft/banker's cheque (of the amount of registration fee as per their respective category) drawn in favour of "Organizing Chairman JEE Advanced" payable at Kanpur at the examination centre, on the day of the exam. It must be noted that apart from DD and banker’s cheque, no personal cheques will be accepted. Candidates are not required to submit any other document at the exam centre. IIT Kanpur will send a communication to these partially registered candidates after the examination regarding uploading (any required documents) before June 5, 2018.

For candidates taking the exam at Indian exam centres, GE and OBC-NCL candidates have to submit a demand draft/banker's cheque of Rs. 3100, while SC, ST, PwD and Female candidates need to submit a demand draft/banker's cheque of Rs. 1800 at the exam centre. Foreign candidates from SAARC countries are required to submit a demand draft/banker's cheque of USD 210, while candidates from non-SAARC countries have to submit a demand draft of USD 350 at the test centre, on the day of the exam.

IIT Kanpur will conduct JEE Advanced 2018 in online mode on May 20. The entrance test for IIT admissions is being held in online mode for the first time in 2018. Till last year, the test was conducted offline or in pen and paper based mode only. JEE Advanced comprises of 2 papers – Paper I and Paper II. All candidates have to appear for both the papers as both are mandatory. Paper I will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, while Paper II will be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm.

As per the official data, a total of 231024 candidates have been deemed eligible to appear for JEE Advanced this year. However, only 160716 have registered for the entrance examination. Out of the candidates who have registered for JEE Advanced, as many as 62,850 are from General Category, while 60,128 are from OBC-NCL. Besides this, 26057 candidates have registered from SC category whereas 11681 have registered from ST category. According to IIT Kanpur, a total of 127793 male candidates have registered for the test, while female registered candidates are 32923. However, this total number of registered candidates can go up as IIT Kanpur is in the process of receiving the fee of many candidates.
