IIT Mandi concludes summer camp for school students on robotics, artificial intelligence

100 school students, 50 government school teachers, and ITI trainers from Uttar Pradesh attended the event.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi concluded the second edition of the Prayas (Prayas 2.0) summer camp for school students. The event focused on robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).
Prayas 2.0 was a fully residential programme aimed to equip students with the fundamentals of emerging technologies like AI and robotics. The camp was attended by 100 school students, along with 50 government teachers and ITI trainers from Uttar Pradesh.
A prize distribution ceremony was also organized at the end of the event on the campus. The young participants were given a take-home robotics kit.
The camp was organized for four weeks during which the students attended classes on robotics and AI and also got to learn about various programming techniques. The students were also guided on how to use sensors, actuators, communication devices, and power devices to assemble different components and build robots. The students programmed their bots in Python to make them fully functional using the customized kits provided in the camp.
The Prayas 2.0 summer camp was in line with the G20-S20 Meet at IIT Mandi, where the students showcased their projects to Mukesh Agnihotri, the deputy chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. The showcase event took place during the one-day conclave on Skill India at IIT Mandi. The students also participated in events like World Environment Day and International Yoga Day, among others.

The participants engaged in regular yoga and aerobics classes, attended Bhagavad Geeta sessions, watched motivational documentaries, participated in plantation and cleaning drives, and visited tinkering labs, IIT Mandi said.
