ISB to help AP Govt boost economy post COVID-19

NEW DELHI: The Andhra Pradesh Government has entered into an agreement with the Indian School of Business to work towards economic development and job creation in the state.
On behalf of the state government, the AP Economic Development Board will be working along with ISB for economic recovery and growth monitoring especially post COVID-19. The agreement was signed in an online event.
Moreover, the collaboration will also work on projects like “‘high-frequency high-resolution indicators for monitoring economic recovery in Andhra Pradesh’, a project on ‘Visakhapatnam’ as an engine of growth, focus on ‘food processing sector’ in Rayalaseema,” an official statement said.
Steps will also be taken for the improvement of e-governance and data analytics. The government also intends to strengthen the informal sector growth and reshape the skilling programs.
Policy lab for economic boost
The agreement will also pave the way for the establishment of a policy lab called “GoAP-ISB Policy Lab”, a public policy laboratory to drive evidence-based policy decisions.
The policy lab will be instrumental in creating a “knowledge bank” for strategic planning, policy analysis, data analytics and action-research need to boost the economy.
“The lab is modelled in the lines of policy lab in the UK cabinet would enable greater synergistic functioning of departments and work towards the objective of economic monitoring, recovery, and development,” the statement added.
“We are working with ISB for the past few months on identifying various areas of collaboration. Today We are onboarding ISB as our knowledge partner to work on various initiatives in skill development, e-governance, turning Vishakhapatnam into a growth engine, improving value addition in food processing,” said Mekapati Goutham Reddy, minister for industries, commerce, IT, and SDT.
