NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is holding the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 in two shifts today, January 30 for the BE and BTech, or paper 1, exams. The first shift of JEE Main 2023 session 1 exam today got over at 12 noon, while the JEE Main 2023 second shift ended at 6 PM. The JEE Main 2023 hall ticket download link is available at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main 2023 admit card has a self-declaration form attached which will have to be filled out and submitted to the JEE Main 2023 invigilator. The JEE Main exam this year is being held in two rounds. The JEE Main first session exam is underway and will continue till February 1, while the next session will be held in April.
The fourth day of the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) session 1 exam concluded for BE, BTech, or Paper 1, exams on January 29. The paper 1 exam in both shifts was moderate. The candidates who appeared for the JEE Main January 29 shift 1 exam analysed the exam as "moderate and doable". The afternoon shift of the JEE Main 2022 BTech, BE paper had a moderate mathematics paper and easy-to-moderate physics and chemistry papers.

- Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml)

Subject Wise Difficulty Level
- Chemistry was the easiest subject to attempt. The chemistry section consisted mostly of easy questions.
- Physics had a mix of moderate and easy questions. Overall Physics was moderately tough compared to Chemistry.
- Mathematics paper was moderate to difficult. Mathematics paper consisted mostly of moderately difficult questions.
Class Wise Distribution Level
- The Question distribution from Class 11th and 12th syllabus was approximately in equal proportion for Physics
- In Mathematics. It was observed that more questions came from Class 11th syllabus
- In Chemistry, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
- Overall the question distribution from the Class 12th syllabus dominated the paper.
Overall Difficulty Level
The overall difficulty level of JEE Main session 1 January 29 shift 2 was easy to moderately difficult. Overall Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt. - For the correct answer or the most appropriate answer, candidates will be awarded four marks (+4).
- For an incorrect answer, there is a penalty of minus one mark (-1).

- In case, more than one option is found to be correct then four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.

Physics – Easy questions asked from Kinematics, Friction, Laws of Motions, Heat & Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Surface Tension, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, Friction, Wave Optics, Semiconductors & Communication Systems. Few Numerical based questions were Easy. Overall, this section was balanced as per students.
Chemistry – Easy to moderate. More weightage was given to Inorganic & Organic Chemistry. Numerical Based questions were mostly from Physical Chemistry - Electrochemistry, Mole Concept, Ionic Equilibrium. Questions covered Chemistry in Everyday Life, Environmental Chemistry, Co-ordination Compounds, Aldehydes & Ketones, Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules, Chemical Bonding, Solutions and Atomic Structure. Fact-based questions from NCERT were easy.
In terms of order of difficulty – Mathematics was moderately tough while Physics was the easiest among the three subjects. Overall, this paper was of moderate level as per students.

JEE Main 2023 analysis: Immediate reaction from students after the exam
- The reporting time for students was 8:20 am however the exam started sharp at 9:00 am.
- Students were not allowed to carry anything inside the examination hall except a transparent ballpoint pen, admit card and aadhar card.
- Transparent water bottles were allowed.
- All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for the safety of the exam takers.
- Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever. Students reported that entry was stopped after 8:30 am.
- Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry.
- Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wristwatches were allowed inside.
- Students reported that entry started as soon as they were screened at the entry point.
- Time clock on the computer screen was provided inside the examination hall.
