Few students found the difficulty level of the JEE Main 2025 January 22 Shift 2 maths section lengthy. Several candidates claimed that the questions from the chemistry section were theory-based and comparatively easy. In the chemistry section, students stated that most topics were asked from NCERT textbooks. Physics was rated easy to moderate.
Manav who took the JEE Main 2025 exam in shift 2 said subjective questions in chemistry were difficult, but Maths was easy. However, some questions on integration were hard. The overall exam was moderate. Harsh Goswami said overall paper was moderate to easy. Chemistry had more questions from the organic section than inorganic. Physics was easier compared to Maths and Chemistry.
As per the Careers360 analysis of the JEE Main 2025 January 22 evening shift paper was relatively moderate in comparison to the morning shift. The JEE Main 2025 session 1 cut-off can vary depending on the difficulty level of upcoming shifts. Candidates can check the section-wise JEE main 2025 difficulty level from the table below.
Sections | JEE Main section-wise difficulty |
Mathematics | Moderate and lengthy |
Physics | Easy to moderate |
Chemistry | Easy |
The overall difficulty level of the Maths section was rated moderate to hard. While some students found the section lengthy, opinions on its complexity varied. Several candidates reported that the questions were easily solvable, whereas others faced challenges in tackling them. "We expected the Maths section to be lengthy and difficult if you look at the previous years, but it was pretty short and doable. There were no technical glitches," a JEE Main aspirant said.
According to Ajay Kumar Sharma, national academic director of Aakash Educational Services Limited, said, "Mathematics was considered the most difficult section, mainly due to the lengthy nature of its questions. Based on student feedback, questions were asked about Calculus, Vectors & 3D Geometry, Matrices and Determinants, Quadratic Equations, Coordinate Geometry, and Binomial Theorem. The quality of the questions was comparable to the Morning Shift, with all chapters receiving equal representation. However, many average students found the section too time-consuming."
The overall difficulty level of physics was moderate. As per students, many questions in this section were easy to solve. According to one aspirant, the physics section was easier than maths. Some students said that easy questions were asked from modern physics. One question was asked from projectile motion and center of mass and numerical questions were asked from thermodynamics.
"Compared to the morning shift, physics questions in the evening shift were relatively easier. Many students found this section the simplest. Mechanics was the most dominant topic, while Waves, Magnetism, and Modern Physics were also well-represented. Almost all chapters were covered evenly, and AR-type theoretical questions were included as well," Sharma said.
The chemistry was relatively easier than the other two subjects. Theory-based questions were asked in this section. Fewer questions were asked from physical chemistry, three questions were asked from coordination chemistry and 2 questions from chemical bonding were asked. Students who appeared in the exam said that more weightage was given to chapters from Class 12 and direct questions were asked from NCERT for this section.
"Chemistry questions were predominantly easy, similar to the morning shift. There was a relatively lower representation of physical chemistry, with organic and inorganic chemistry forming the majority. Most of the questions were theoretical and covered almost all chapters equally. Assertion-Reason (AR) type questions were also included and were primarily theoretical," Sharma further said.
JEE Main 2025 session 1 exam is scheduled to be held from January 22 to 30. As per students, the JEE Main 2025 shift 1 exam was easy. Some students said that direct questions were asked from chemistry and physics. NTA will issue the JEE Main 2025 provisional answer key soon after the exam session 1 exam concludes. The JEE Main 2025 answer key will be issued on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
