The institute will admit students to its undergraduate programmes through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025. Popular engineering branches like Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Mechanical Engineering at NIT Warangal tend to have higher cut-offs.

The highest JEE Main cut-off at which the institute closed admission last year was 2186 for the BTech CSE programme for candidates outside Telangana.
In the last three years, the top engineering branches have shown competitive closing ranks, with computer science maintaining a high cut-off for both home state and other state candidates.
Emerging fields like VLSI design, ai and data science , and mathematics and computing showed some of the lowest closing ranks in 2024, indicating growing interest and fewer applicants compared to traditional branches.

The first session of JEE Main 2025 will be held in January 2025. Students aspiring to study at NITs need to appear for JEE Main paper 1 for BE, BTech.
