JEE Result 2018 announced by CBSE at jeemain.nic.in

NEW DELHI, APRIL 30: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the result of JEE Main 2018 Paper I today in online mode on its official website – jeemain.nic.in. Results can be checked by logging in using one’s roll number and date of birth. Details like the score card and the All India Rank of the candidate would be available with the result.

Anticipation around result of paper I as usual was high as it determines admission to B.Tech courses at NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.

The qualifying status of the candidate would also be displayed alongside the result. The qualifying marks are the minimum determined by JAB that the candidate has to score to be able to attempt JEE Advanced, which is the screening test for admission to the IITs. This year the number of qualifying candidates have been increased to 2,24,000 from 2,00,000 the previous year.

How to check the result

Candidates who have appeared in the national-level entrance exam will be able to check the result by following the steps given here:

• Go to the JEE Main website - jeemain.nic.in
• Click on the result link
• Log-in to the result portal using your JEE Main 2018 roll number and date of birth
• Upon successful log-in, the result would be displayed on screen

Details included in JEE Main result

Along with personal details like name, gender, parent’s name, etc. the result would carry the following details:

• Marks obtained by the candidate in each of the three subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics
• All India Rank (AIR)
• Category Rank
• Qualifying status (qualified candidates are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2018)
• The cutoff score for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018
• The candidate’s state code of eligibility

The minimum or qualifying marks that the candidate has to score to appear in JEE Advanced 2018 is decided by JAB. The qualifying marks however vary from category to category, something that the candidate has to take note of.

JEE Main Cutoff for admission to Participating institutes

Candidates must note the qualifying cutoff is different from the cutoff released by JoSAA for admission to participating institutes – NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. For example, the qualifying cutoff is only restricted to determining the eligibility of the candidate as far as appearing in JEE Advanced is concerned.

On the other hand, the admission cutoff will be institute and subject-specific and determine whether the candidate will get admission at any of the participating institutes. If the candidate scores a rank equal to or above the cutoff rank, the candidate will be considered for seat allotment. Otherwise the candidate will be disqualified.

Counselling of JEE Main

JoSAA will conduct counselling for shortlisted candidates in online mode tentatively from the second week of June onwards. There will be a total seven rounds of counselling tentatively. Counselling process would include steps like registration, filling and locking of choices, announce of seat allotment and document verification.

Some 11,48,000 candidates registered for JEE Main Paper I this year, which was conducted in both online and offline modes. The pen-and-paper based exam was conducted on April 8, while the online exam was conducted from April 15-16. More number of candidates opted for the offline mode than online mode.
