Karnataka Higher Education Council, Education New Zealand to work in academics, research, student mobility

New Zealand and Karnataka HEIs will collaborate in STEM, social sciences, hospitality, tourism, and multimedia subjects.
NEW DELHI: The Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) has signed an education cooperation arrangement (ECA) with Education New Zealand. The partnership will focus on changing the educational landscape in Karnataka by promoting collaboration, facilitating student and faculty mobility, engaging in research endeavours, and sharing best practices and emerging trends in education.
The ECA was signed by KG Chandrashekara, executive director of KSHEC and Lisa Futschek, general manager (international) Education New Zealand. The agreement was signed in the presence of MC Sudhakar, Karnataka high education minister and Damon Salesa, vice-chancellor of Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, and his team.
During the signing ceremony, delegations from eight universities in New Zealand and eleven Karnataka State Public Universities engaged in sessions to identify mutual areas of interests. This session facilitated discussions to discover common ground for potential collaborations in academic and research activities.
As per the partnership, Karnataka higher education department and Education New Zealand will work on following fields:
- Explore avenues for international partnerships and collaborations between New Zealand and Karnataka HEIs in STEM, social sciences, hospitality, tourism, and multimedia
- Facilitate collaborative research initiatives between institutions to drive innovation and address pressing challenges in education
- Sharing best practices, trends, educational exchanges, and promotional activities.

Karnataka higher education minister MC Sudhakar said, "This partnership with Education New Zealand reflects our unwavering commitment to promoting excellence in higher education.
