Grant covers salary expenditure for July-December 2026; utilisation certificate and fresh funding proposal mandatory for release of next instalment
The Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy has sanctioned Rs 1,46,466.97 lakh (Rs 1,464.67 crore) to pay the salaries of employees working in the state school education system for six months, from July 2026 to December 2026.
The sanction was issued through a government order dated June 4, 2026. The funds have been approved to cover salaries in state-run educational institutions and administrative offices under the department.
According to the order, the funds will be used to pay the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff working in government schools and other institutions under the School Education Department during the second half of the 2026-27 financial year.

Utilisation certificate mandatory
The department said that the funds have been released based on the budget approved for 2026–27. The amount will be used to cover salary expenses in primary and secondary schools, administrative offices, training centres, academic support units, and other education-related institutions.
The order also states that drawing and disbursing officers must release salaries according to the prescribed rules and financial guidelines. The department has directed all concerned authorities to keep proper records of the spending and submit utilisation details within the given time.
A key condition of the approval is that the next instalment of funds will be released only after a detailed utilisation report and a formal fund request are submitted.
