Madhya Pradesh school education department has launched ICS Career App in partnership with the Institute of Career Studies, Lucknow.
NEW DELHI: The Madhya Pradesh school education department has launched a career counselling mobile application for students of excellence and model schools of the state in partnership with Lucknow-based institute, the Free Press Journal reported. The app was launched in a ‘Career counselling and guidance Programme’, it said.

The programme was reportedly conducted under the support of Directorate of Public Instruction and Institute of Career Studies (ICS), Lucknow. ICS Career App was launched in partnership with ICS at the inauguration of the programme.
Rashmi Arun Shami, principal secretary of MP school education department reportedly said that career counselling is necessary for every student. Students think upto a limited range and career guidance will prove helpful in broadening their thinking. Career counselling will prove to be helpful in exploring opportunities ahead of the child's thinking.

She added that career counselling is a part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 too, as per report.
Commissioner public instruction Abhay Verma reportedly informed that ICS will conduct career counselling of students in Madhya Pradesh for free. The schools’ principals should pass on the information received in the workshop to their subordinates, he said.

Amrita Das of ICS said during the programme that while there are various career options available today, students lack information about them and the organisation is working for this very purpose, the report said.
Besides the workshop, seminars or webinars will be conducted which will help setting goals for students, she said. There have been many changes in the new education policy, it is important for the students and parents to be aware of them, she further said, as per the report.
