MAH CET 2025: Students from reserved category recorded a higher success rate compared to others due to possible reservation, fee benefits, and low competition. Overall admission rate stands at 74.05%.
The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has admitted over 1 lakh candidates to BE and BTech engineering courses through CAP counselling. As per the CET Cell’s engineering admission 2025-26 report, students from the reserved category recorded a higher success rate compared to general category students due to possible reservation, fee benefits and low competition.
The overall MAH CET 2025 BE, BTech admission rate stands at 74.05%. The highest admission rate was shown for the reserved category at 86.89% and the lowest at 64.55% for open category students.
A total of 225,166 had registered for the MAH CET CAP 2025 counselling for engineering admission, of whom 166,746 candidates took admission. However, during the institute-level CAP round, some candidates cancelled their admissions. Finally, 130,835 candidates confirmed their admissions through the CAP rounds.

MAH CET 2025: Less than 50% admission at 66 institutes
A total of 66 institutes reported admission percentages below 50%. Together, they had an intake capacity of 19,674 seats, but only 5,879 admissions were filled, leading to a low overall admission rate of 29.88%. This highlighted the underutilization of seats and suggests limited demand or preference for these institutes among candidates.
“These institutes collectively struggle to attract students, with some reporting extremely low admissions (below 10%), pointing to sustainability challenges,” the official MAH CET engineering admission report reads.
For the academic year 2025-26, the MAH CET CAP counselling 2025 for BE and BTech courses started on June 28, and the last date was September 15.
MAH CET CAP 2025: Pune top choice for BE, BTech
According to the MAH CET engineering admission report 2025-26, in Pune, out of 44,748 candidates, 43,270 (96.7%) secured admission within the city itself. Only 1,478 candidates (3.3%) opted for admission outside Pune. The majority of them moved to Mumbai (898 candidates), reflecting Pune’s highest retention rate among all regions.
In contrast, the Amaravati region saw a much lower retention rate. Out of 16,651 candidates, only 7,960 (47.8%) remained in Amaravati for their admissions, while 8,691 candidates (52.2%) migrated to other regions.
