NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday announced a new scheme called the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi. The scheme aims to provide financial support to unemployed male students who have completed their Class 12, obtained a diploma, or earned a graduate degree.

Under this scheme, various financial benefits will be provided to the youth based on their educational qualifications. Students who have finished their 12th grade will receive Rs 6,000 per month. Moreover, those with a diploma will get Rs 8,000 monthly, and graduates will be granted Rs 10,000 each month.

New scheme similar to 'Ladli Behan Yojna'

The Ladla Bhai Yojana is similar to the government's Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the state budget assembly last month.

Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 receive a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 from the state government.

“Some people said that ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ (for women) has been launched; what about ‘Ladka Bhau’ (beloved brother)? We are now announcing a scheme for Ladka Bhau… They will receive this stipend from the government during their on-job training in the industry,” Shinde told the media.

However, despite these similarities, Shinde emphasised that the Ladla Bhai Yojana is not exclusively for men, whereas the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is specifically for women.

One-year apprenticeship under Ladla Bhai Yojana

Under the Ladla Bhai scheme, young individuals will participate in a one-year apprenticeship in a factory, acquiring valuable work experience to aid them in securing jobs based on this experience. CM Shinde stated that the initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce.

"The scheme will provide skilled youth not only to the state's industries but also to those across the country. The government will pay the youth during their apprenticeship to help them become proficient in their jobs," Shinde added.
