The Maharashtra government has made major changes in the eligibility criteria for EWS and NRI quota candidates. Accordingly, the eligibility criteria for AYUSH courses in Maharashtra medical colleges have also been tweaked.
Earlier, candidates belonging to the open and EWS categories had to obtain at least 50%, ie. 150 out of 300 marks in Class 12 physics, chemistry, and biology (PCB) subjects to be eligible for these three courses.
The minimum marks required for SEBC with PwD claim was 40%, ie. 120 marks out of 300 in PCB subjects taken together, and PwD category candidates in General category must have at least 135 out of 300, ie. 45% to be eligible.
This means, candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with subjects of physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology will be eligible to apply for Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani courses.
However, the eligibility criteria for MBBS and BDS courses will remain the same. Students belonging to different categories should fulfill the minimum qualifying criteria to be eligible for admission in medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra.
There are a total of 5,050 MBBS seats in Maharashtra government medical colleges. Recently, the officials clarified that AAPAR ID is not mandatory for registering for Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2025. The registration deadline has been extended up to August 4.
