A State Cell official told Careers360 that the Cell is planning to hold MHT CET 2027 in December. However, it has not been finalised yet. “We are aiming to hold the CET in December, but there's nothing final yet,” said an official.
MHT CET is a state-level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate degree programs like engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture in colleges across Maharashtra.
Last year, the State Cell introduced a policy to conduct the MHT CET entrance exam in two phases, offering students another opportunity to improve their scores. Candidates' best scores were taken into account for the MHT CET counselling process, offering them seats in colleges across Maharashtra.
Significantly, this year's MHT CET 2026 BTech admissions rose to 1.81 lakh. In the academic year 2025-26, around 1.66 lakh took engineering admission.
Notably, Savitribai Phule Pune University saw the highest number of BTech admissions at 64,822, followed by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University in Lonere with 34,385 admissions.
In a major move, the state government has constituted a panel for considering Class 12 marks for merit list preparation for engineering and pharmacy admissions, after a proposal from the State CET Cell.
The panel will also determine the ratio between Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile scores required for admission. The five-member panel will have to submit its report with recommendations to the government within 15 days.
