NEW DELHI: The ministry of education (MoE) today on the occasion of Teachers' Day awarded 44 teachers for their contribution in the education sector. President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the awards in the presence of Union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.

In his address at the National Teachers Awards ceremony President Ram Nath Kovind said: “Teachers should keep in mind that every student has different abilities, different talents, different psychology, different social background and environment. Therefore, emphasis should be laid on all round development of each child according to his special needs, interests and abilities.”

He added, “Our education system should be such that the students should inculcate loyalty to the constitutional values and fundamental duties of citizens, strengthen the feeling of love for the country and make them aware of their role in the changing global scenario and that It is the duty of teachers to inculcate interest in studies in their students. Sensitive teachers can shape the future of students by their behavior, conduct and teaching.”

The Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said: “Today we are celebrating the 133rd birth anniversary of the first Vice President and second President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.”

Honouring the 44 teachers, he said that teachers play an important role in every person's life and are responsible for shaping the future of our society.

Teachers' Day and COVID-19

Honouring the memory of the former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on Teachers Day, prime minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “On Teachers’ Day, greetings to the entire teaching fraternity, which has always played a pivotal role in nurturing young minds. It is commendable how teachers have innovated and ensured the education journey of students continues in the COVID-19 times”

The education ministry's department of school education and literacy (DOSEL) is also celebrating Shikshak Parv-2021 from September 5 to 17 through online mode.

Starting today, it will include webinars on various themes like nurturing inclusive classrooms, promoting quality and sustainable schools,holistic progress card, vocational education and skill building, foundational literacy and numeracy, national digital education architecture (NDEAR), etc

As India celebrates the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan i.e. Teachers Day, states like Bihar have decided to give state teachers awards to 20 teachers and Maharashtra is celebrating teachers appreciation week.
