Teacher’s Day 2021: Shikshak Parv to commence on September 5

The Department of School Education & Literacy (DOSEL) has decided to celebrate Shikshak Parv-2021 from September 5 to 17 through virtual mode.

NEW DELHI: The Department of School Education and Literacy (DOSEL) has decided to celebrate Shikshak Parv-2021 from September 5 to 17 through online mode to recognise the contributions of teachers and take the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 one step forward.

Santosh Kumar Sarangi, additional secretary; R C Meena, joint secretary; and Vipin Kumar, joint secretary of DOSEL held a press conference today on National Teachers Awards and Shikshak Parv.

During the meeting, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, highlighting on the vaccination drive for vaccinating over two crore teachers, said that the school education and literacy department is monitoring the status of states which will also help in taking decisions regarding school reopening in the country, as per an official statement.

R C Meena said that President Ram Nath Kovind will confer 44 teachers with the National Teachers Awards 2021 on September 5 through virtual mode. Adding that a documentary film will be shown on all the winning teachers, Meena said that “National Awards to Teachers were first instituted in 1958 to recognize excellence and commitment of teachers in shaping the minds as well as future of the youth.”

Shikshak Parv 2021

Vipin Kumar said that prime minister Narendra Modi will address the students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders associated with the education system on September 7 at 11am.

“Prime Minister will be launching five initiatives of the Department, that is, Indian Sign Language dictionary of 10,000 words, Talking Books (audio books for visually impaired), School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF) of CBSE, NISTHA teachers' training programme for NIPUN Bharat, and Vidyanjali Portal (for facilitating education volunteers, donors or CSR contributors for school development),” Kumar added.

Kumar further said that webinars, presentations, discussions, etc. will follow the conclave till September 17 in which teachers and educational practitioners will deliver speeches on schools quality and innovation related issues. The SCERT and DIET will also contribute to the webinars, Kumar stated.

The theme of webinars has been divided into nine sub-themes to highlight initiatives that schools in India can adopt. Kumar added.
