NCPCR asks NTA to review JEE Advanced 2023 criteria barring 2021 candidates from exam

NEW DELHI : The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to reconsider the eligibility criteria for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2023 as per which 2021 candidates are not eligible for writing the exam. Several JEE Advanced 2021 candidates are demanding a third compensatory attempt in JEE Advanced 2023 exam as they were unable to appear for JEE Advanced 2022 due to Covid-19 pandemic despite being eligible.

In a letter to NTA, the Commission said it has received representations from JEE Advanced aspirants that 12th graduates of 2021 are ineligible for IIT JEE Advanced 2023 and are demanding an extra attempt. NCPCR said it has also received complaints of students who appeared for JEE Advanced 2022 faced issues as questions were zoomed upto 300% due to which they had to scroll frequently resulting in loss of their time.

“Several more representations have been received in the Commission from JEE Aspirants wherein it has been stated that as per eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2023, 12th board graduates of the year 2021 are not eligible to appear for the JEE examination. It has been requested that eligibility criteria is put under review and reconsidered so that students get an extra attempt for JEE Advanced 2023.lt has also been mentioned in one of the representation that aspirants faced problems while answering questions for IIT JEE (Advanced) 2022 exam because the zoom of the questions was 300% due to which the candidates had to scroll horizontally and vertically and valuable time was lost,” the NCPCR letter read.

The representations are being forwarded to you for immediate necessary consideration in the best interest of the children at your end, the Commission added.

In their representations, the candidates referred to a one-time relaxation given to 2020 candidates by allowing them a third attempt in the JEE Advanced 2022 exam.
